The essentials

Quick Summary

Soro analyzes a website, proposes keywords, maintains a content calendar and generates SEO-focused drafts. Our paid test covered Brand DNA, queue control, three drafts, two finished Guides and its WordPress connector.

Bottom line

Soro is an approachable, competitively priced first-draft accelerator after careful Brand DNA calibration. Automatic calendar behavior, missing sources and a stock WordPress connector without custom-content safeguards make human editorial review essential.

Audience fit

Who it’s for / Who it’s not for

Who it’s for

  • Founders, marketers and small editorial teams that want a steady first-draft pipeline.
  • Standard WordPress or Shopify publishers that can keep automatic publication off.
  • Teams with a clear niche and an accountable editor for facts, links, intent and publication.
  • Small sites that value topic momentum and can tune Brand DNA carefully.

Who it’s not for

  • Teams that require a complete global pause for automatic content planning.
  • Publishers that need every draft to include authoritative primary sources automatically.
  • Medical, legal, financial or other high-risk publishing without specialist review.
  • Custom WordPress architectures that require server-enforced post type, metadata and draft controls.

Overview

Soro starts with a website URL, then proposes a business description, audience, content direction, language and image style. We expanded its reasonable Exploripo draft with explicit rules: do not invent testing, separate vendor claims from hands-on findings, avoid duplicate review intent and use current primary sources.

Figure 2. Brand DNA exposed editable business, voice, audience and avoidance fields that we used to add evidence and anti-cannibalization guardrails.

Completing onboarding immediately generated one article and filled the calendar with 13 future topics. That is useful if the goal is uninterrupted daily publishing; it is surprising if the goal is a controlled editorial queue. The calendar also displayed recurring Soro auto-fills this day placeholders.

Soro wants to keep the pipeline moving. A cautious operator should separate publication from generation and treat calendar suggestions as proposals, not approvals.

Features

Brand DNA and language controls

Brand DNA stores business context, voice, audience, topics to avoid, language and image guidance. This was the most consequential quality control in our test. The initial draft contained polished but unsupported generalizations. After calibration, the next drafts were better scoped, less likely to cannibalize existing reviews and more explicit about evidence limits. Soro says it supports more than 50 languages; Exploripo kept English because the public site is English-only.

Keywords, calendar and manual generation

Soro combines keyword discovery with a daily calendar. Its keyword difficulty and volume figures can help generate ideas, but we treated them as vendor signals rather than independently verified measurements. The manual Calendar → New Article route is refreshingly simple: enter a target keyword, optionally supply a title and choose Short, Medium or Long.

Figure 4. The manual generator asks for one keyword, an optional title and one of three article lengths.

The scheduler is less controllable. We removed all 13 future cards one by one. The concrete queue was briefly empty, but 15 auto-fill placeholders remained; Soro Support later confirmed that auto-fill cannot currently be fully disabled and that removing items does not turn off the mechanism. New concrete cards later appeared again.

Article editor and SEO score

Generated articles arrive with title, slug, meta description, image, word count, headings, links and an SEO score, plus Markdown/HTML export. The score is a checklist, not an editorial verdict: our first article received 100 while lacking authoritative sources, carrying cannibalization risk and overstating its evidence.

Figure 7. Soro exposed a score, slug, meta description and featured image, but the score did not assess evidence quality or publication safety.

Publishing, analytics and social

Soro advertises connections for WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Notion, HubSpot, Ghost, Wix, Next.js and webhooks. Search Console and GA4 entry points were visible in our account, but we did not authorize them. Facebook and Instagram required an additional social plan, which we also left disconnected. These untested connections should be treated as vendor capabilities, not hands-on findings.

Pricing

Promotional starting price from $39/month; 30 to unlimited generated articles per month depending on plan

Soro's public page showed a promotional starting price of $39 per month on October 3, 2026, with 30 to unlimited generated articles by plan. The crawlable page had no stable tier matrix, so verify allowance and tax at checkout.

ItemCurrent or observed positionWhat to know
Starting subscriptionFrom $39/monthPromotional wording and exact checkout price can change
Generation allowance30 to unlimited articles/month, depending on planOfficial vendor range; exact tier should be confirmed before purchase
Free trialNone advertisedPayment is charged when the subscription starts
Money-back guarantee14 days for eligible first-time subscribersMore than 14 generated articles removes guarantee eligibility; other conditions apply
CancellationAnytime; effective at the end of the billing periodUnused time is generally not refunded outside stated policy or legal rights
Social add-on$19/month or $108/year plus VAT in our accountAccount-screen observation, not part of the core public price

Exploripo bought a promotional monthly subscription and paid Czech VAT without a VAT ID. That is historical evidence, not a universal price. At $39, Soro can offer value if drafts save research and writing time; it cannot if editors repeatedly rebuild topics, sources, links and images.

Pricing note: USD public pricing was checked October 3, 2026. The starting price was promotional, the crawlable page did not expose a stable tier-by-tier matrix, and tax, region, allowance and checkout terms can change the total.

Our Experience

We tested paid onboarding, brand configuration, calendar cleanup, two Guide-generation cycles and the WordPress connector. Soro stayed disconnected from production; both final Guides were transferred manually after factual, editorial and SEO review.

Onboarding produced one article plus 13 scheduled topics without a clear global pause. We preserved the queue, removed all 13 items and verified the empty state. Persistent placeholders and later card reappearance matched Support's explanation that Soro fills calendar gaps and has no complete auto-fill disable switch.

The first raw article, about ElevenLabs Czech voice quality, was not publishable. It implied broader experience than one archived Czech sample supported, duplicated buyer-review intent and cited no official source. Calibration produced a useful procedural base, but Soro changed the approved title and omitted current vendor sources. A human-edited candidate became How to Test an ElevenLabs Czech Voice Before Publishing. Sourcing, editing, metadata, manual transfer and local QA took 19 minutes 56 seconds.

The second topic was How to Test AI Avatar Lip Sync Before Publishing. Its raw draft preserved procedural intent and did not invent hands-on evidence, but changed the title, omitted exact HeyGen/Synthesia evidence and supplied no authoritative source. Finishing the candidate took 17 minutes 26 seconds, 2 minutes 30 seconds less than Guide 1.

Once calibrated, Soro produced usable structures that reduced blank-page work. But both drafts needed a human to confirm intent, retrieve primary sources, label evidence limits, fix links and control WordPress.

Connector 1.4.2 created ordinary posts when asked for an exploripo_guide, accepted remote publish, could not map Guide fields or topics, and shared one key across publishing, media and IndexNow. Despite duplicate protection and no update/delete endpoint, it was incompatible with Exploripo. Manual transfer is safest; a future adapter must force the Guide type and Draft status server-side.

Alternatives

AlternativeBest forWhy choose it instead of Soro
Koala AIPublishers wanting granular generation, bulk/API workflows and multiple CMS draftsLower entry price, more explicit controls and API depth; less centered on an always-filled daily calendar
Semrush Content ToolkitTeams already using Semrush data and collaborative content optimizationStronger research ecosystem and editor-led optimization; less of a hands-off autopilot
SurferEditors prioritizing SERP guidance, audits and optimization controlDeeper optimization workflow and review visibility; materially higher entry pricing than Soro

Koala is closest to a flexible AI publishing engine. Semrush Content Toolkit and Surfer better suit teams that want to steer research and optimization instead of letting a daily calendar choose the next article.

How it compares

Soro is the most opinionated, approachable option here. Give it a site, tune the brand and it maintains a daily rhythm. Its $39 starting point is below the current annual-billing entry prices we found for Semrush Content Toolkit and Surfer. The trade-off is a scheduler that may repopulate unapproved topics.

Koala offers more explicit writing, research, API and bulk controls and can create CMS drafts. It better suits publishers that own the editorial calendar; Soro is simpler when the tool should propose the plan.

Semrush Content Toolkit emphasizes topic data, optimization and shared editorial work. Surfer emphasizes SERP guidance, auditing and deliberate optimization. Neither is as automatic as Soro, but both expose more decisions to the editor.

Soro therefore competes on convenience and price, not on the strongest governance or deepest optimization controls. That is attractive when a human review gate is cheap and reliable. It is risky when publication must be unattended.

Final Verdict

Soro earns 7.3/10. It is easy to start, competitively priced and produced useful first-draft structures after calibration. Final editing and local QA stayed below 20 minutes in our two controlled Guides. Support was responsive and the planning, brand, article and SEO screens felt coherent.

The deductions are substantial. Auto-fill cannot currently be fully disabled, the raw drafts still missed authoritative sources and exact evidence, and a perfect Soro SEO score did not predict publishability. The stock WordPress connector also lacks the server-side constraints and custom-content mapping Exploripo needs.

We recommend Soro to small sites that will use it as a supervised editorial assistant: approve the topic, verify current facts, edit every draft and control publication outside the marketing promise of autopilot. We do not recommend unattended publishing for evidence-led reviews, sensitive subjects or custom WordPress architectures.

Is Soro worth $39 per month?

It can be, if the calendar and drafts replace enough manual planning and first-draft work. Value falls quickly when every article requires a complete rebuild, so test quality within the guarantee window and track actual editing time.

Does Soro offer a free trial?

No free trial was advertised when we checked. Eligible first-time subscribers can request the published 14-day money-back guarantee, subject to its fair-use and account conditions.

Can Soro publish directly to WordPress?

Yes, through its official connector, but buyers should verify the post type, status, category, media and SEO-field behavior for their own site. Exploripo's custom Guide architecture was not compatible with connector 1.4.2.

Can Soro keep WordPress articles as drafts?

Soro Support recommends Auto-publish off or WordPress status Draft. Our connector audit found that Draft is a cloud-side operating choice; the stock WordPress endpoint still accepts a remote publish status, so it is not a server-enforced safety guarantee.

Can Soro's automatic calendar be disabled?

Soro Support told us auto-fill cannot currently be completely disabled. Removing scheduled cards clears those items but does not switch off the underlying behavior.

How much editing did Soro articles need in our test?

The two calibrated Guides took 19 minutes 56 seconds and 17 minutes 26 seconds for sourcing, editing, metadata, manual transfer and local QA. Two Guides are too small a sample to promise the same time for every topic.

Does Soro guarantee rankings or traffic?

No. Soro markets content for Google and AI visibility, but its Terms explicitly say rankings, impressions, clicks, leads and revenue are not guaranteed. Editorial quality, site authority, competition and search-engine changes still matter.
